NASA performs the fastest, highest, most graceful back-flip in history!

WOW!!! You've got to see this!

The real time clip runs for just over 6 minutes. There is a sound track, but you will have to turn the sound volume way up to hear it.

The high speed clip runs for just over a minute.

I'm still trying to make my mind up if there is an astronaut riding in the open cargo bay at the front end. Leave a comment

That really is impressive but I'm not sure where you're looking for the astronaut.

Hi Donna!!

I was looking at the left hand side of the front of the cargo bay where I could see what looked like some dark object moving relative to the edge of the cargo hold door.

I have looked at the long clip again frame by frame. There is an apparent dark object moving in the left hand front side of the cargo bay as the Atlantis starts its back-flip, but I now think that it is the shadow of the mounting post for the long jib arm which handles satellites as they are moved in and out of the cargo bay.

It's a pity that it wasn't an astronaut. Just think of the rush - seeing the whole Earth rising up over your shoulder, passing in front of your face, and then disappearing over the edge of the crew cabin roof in front of you in about 5 minutes! That would be the photo-shoot of a Lifetime :)
