SO apparently I am spending half a week in Newark, NJ (of all places) for a training. It should be interesting. Some agency is setting up all travel arrangements. I would almost prefer to drive, but mileage reimbursement ends up being about what it costs to buy a plane ticket. although, last time I drove to NJ, it ended up taking me about 9 hours and I spent a good deal of time lost in the Bronx...maybe I can request to travel by train???
There are no meals included in this training...that makes no sense to me. They are reimbursing people for up to $43/day for food expenses...seems like it would make sense to just offer food during the training. Whatever. I'm not the one who makes this shit up.
The training should be interesting. It is an intervention that is listed by the CDC on their list of "effective" interventions. I will be curious to see how it plays out because the intervention looks rather intense...7 sessions over 4-6 months. Oh, yeah, and it is "aimed at high-risk drug use and sexual behaviors of injecting and non-injecting drug users that are related to transmission of HIV and viral hepatitis."
It should be wicked easy to recruit folks for that!
I was supposed to attend this training a year and a half ago, but they asked me to wait for one closer to my area since they are paying for it (the last one was in Miami). I feel a little guilty going since there is the possibility that I might not be here that much longer. I asked if there is a chance that both O. (the woman who does IDU stuff on the other side of our area) and I could go. Nope.
I suppose I should get back to work.
My treat of the day...a decaf latte made with soymilk...from Dunkin' Donuts of all places. maybe a smooch from a sweet femme later...
