The best job lead I've had in over a year called last thursday night @ 9 p.m. after I had a long day at the pharmacy & a shot or two, but I got hired once by The Brunswick News daily paper when I answered the phone "City Morgue" after more than a few drinks in 2007.
I was getting ready for bed because I had accepted a substitute teaching gig - 10th grade honors & non-honors English - yeah - non-honors totally - and I was so not on my game, it was totally unexpected, I've been sending my resume and writing clips, list of awards & references - out to seeming black holes for a year, then suddenly on a hopeless Thursday night @ 9 p.m. as I'm preparing for my Friday High School subbing sentence, there I was suddenly on the phone w/the editor of The Montrose Daily Press, Montrose, Colorado - a dream job.
I've worked for the parent company - Wick Communications - before in Sidney, Montana @ The Sidney Herald - I hope that helps my desperate to get out of Kershaw and back into journalism where I belong cause.
I want more than anything to get this job. I know this paper - they produce a great product - I used to read it off & on for 4 years in the Sidney Herald breakroom, I understand the parent company's philosophies, they are a seemingly liberal Rocky Mountain Western Daily - exactly the kind of place where I can grow & thrive.
I so need this. If I don't get it, that won't be any surprise, I've just convinced myself this losing streak is sooner & sooner to be over, I belong somewhere - hopefully in Montrose, Colorado. That was be ideal.
