Um, hi.

You don't know me, and I *rarely* just jump into someone's LJ and comment unannounced, but I saw this on friendsfriends (the connections seem to be mz_bstone and taraljc ), and when I saw "top five times Martha Jones was awesome", well, I had to click. And I found a post full of things that make me happy--Dar Williams, Martha, Martha, Martha, Hermione and Geoffery and Darren and love for Hogwarts and counted soliloquies and Atticus and even a journal title from Vienna Teng...I mean, it's to the point that I hardly even know which icon to use.

So I'm compelled to say "hello", and that I think you have completely awesome taste.

And in conclusion, Martha Jones. *nods*

I love Ainsley. I disagree with her on just about every topic, but I love that she's loud and articulate, and that she's done her research. She's wrong about a bunch of things, but she makes her case and she listens when other people make theirs. She's a good person to have on your team. And she went to my college. *g*

I love her too, for pretty much all the same reasons. And I love that she's fond of Sam despite the fact they disagree on just about everything; there's something that really rings true about that.

I happened to catch The Red Mass on television the other day. It's still so, so good.

What's that exchange when the bit about Leo's alcoholism comes out and Josh is deposed? "Josh, take a lawyer." "I am a lawyer!" "Josh, take a lawyer." And of course he takes Sam.

Heh, I was just thinking about that exact part when I decided not to include Josh in my list of lawyers. Josh is not a lawyer.

I endorse large swathes of this post, esp. regarding Martha. Also, I want to offer up Shirley Schmidt from Boston Legal as a best fictional lawyer because she is awesome incarnate: she is the named partner of a massively successful firm, a feminist, a mother and a grandmother of feminists, and in her 60s is easily the most sought-after woman on the show.

It is pretty much the liberal lawyer's happy place incarnate.
or mine, at least.

Caveat: it's actually really sexist but it is pretty clear that it knows this and is doing so as a self-aware depiction of law firms and makes its criticism of this increasingly more clear and explicit and complicated as the seasons progress. .. imho.
