One of my betas said that Rodney's the one who is broken in this by John's ascension, not Vala, and it's true. There are dark nights when he can't sleep and he thinks he would have traded Atlantis' destruction for John's life.

I'm pretty sure the kid will end up taking over at least one galaxy. Plus, you know Ronon and Teyla would play godparents. Plus Teal'c. The kid's going to be formidable.

Wow. This very much broke me, but in a good way. I loved the end - it really just capped off the story perfectly. John would sacrifice himself and Rodney would protect Vala and the baby. Really, an excellent read.
