ok. the poem was for school but i am in a annoyed at drugs mood so it can live here. and yes...if you think part of that's about you it may well be. ask me if you want.
We live in a country where drugs are in power.
Not the president, not congress, not the senate, nor state.
We’re told from a young age that drugs will destroy us.
The truth we forget by seven or eight.
For our mothers and fathers, or sisters or brother,
Are sure to use drugs for it takes away pain.
And when you say this you must make it clear,
It’s not physical pain they remove here.
It’s the pain of the mind.
The pain of this world,
Perpetuates until you can not deal
The only way you know how to
is with narcotics.
And this is a path
Of destruction I hear.
But it’s true that we’re all taught
That drugs will destroy us
An example or two
Will prove this more.
Fifteen years old.
And not at all happy.
Turns to drugs
As her mother
And sister
Had done
When she was young
Calls up a friend on the phone
Four months later
And says
“I don’t know how to stop”
the drugs had taken over
the rehab centers
filled with people
waiting for weeks
for an SLE
I remember at ten
We had a program
To teach us
Not to touch drugs
Yet within two years
None of us remembered
And we watched as our peers
Became addicted to drugs
And I know now
Though it’s taken me years
That we live in a world where drugs are in power
