Hey Y'all,
I don't really want to add an academic lens to this issue, but i'm writting a paper on alternative ways of addressing sexual violence specifically within smaller communities, such as a group of friends, or a certain scene in a city, or a school, or a church, etc. I'm trying to address the question of how we can build stronger communities in the face of rape and sexual assault. I'm looking at ways beyond the legal system, and beyond kicking the perp out out of the community. I would love to have y'alls input on this!
Here are some specific questions, but i really appreciate any imput or ideas you have!
Can revenge be a part of healing?
Does forgiveness need to be a part of healing?
What alternative ways of addressing sexual violence have you seen in practice?
What has worked? Why?
What hasn't working? Why?
Can you think of concrete actions that would make a perpertrator not offend again?
Can you brainstorm ideas for community responses to would proactively address sexual violence with the end result having both the survivor and offender be a healthy part of the community?
THANKS!!!!!
