black friday.

It's still strange for me, not being behind the counter for Black Friday.  I still worked today.  I have worked the day after Thanksgiving every year since I was 16.  But working in the trash business is a totally different animal from retail.  I still remember getting myself psyched up the night before.  Even though Black Friday represented an entire month of long hours with no days off, there was a special nervous energy in the air on that first day of the shopping season.  I remember Black Friday during Hell Christmas.  Me, Ben, Teresa, and Joe had spent our Thanksgiving at Highland Mall, setting up a special seasonal store.  We got home late, woke up early, and worked all day and into the next night.  I remember walking Teresa out to her car around midnight.  I remember my first Black Friday at Lakeline.  I was all alone from open until about 11am.  I remember literally attending to a store full of people, single-handed.  And I remember the following year...the year that me and my little band of merry Gamefellas beat the pants off of every other store in sales.  There are few times that my chest has swelled with pride like that.  Lakeline had always been dead last...now, after just a year with me at the helm, and a great team backing me up, we were neck and neck with the flagship store.

I always say that the only good thing about not being at Gamefellas anymore is that I don't work the Christmas season anymore.  But wouldn't you know it...I miss Black Friday.

Lots of stuff going on.  Just haven't felt like writing about it.  Been doing some heavy, HEAVY gaming.  My current crack is Gears of War 2 and playing Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix on Xbox Live.  So far, I'm 24-10.  Not bad for a rusty player using a substandard SF controller.

...

I miss my store.
