I was talking to someone today about the 'Beauty and the Beast' movie and they were saying how terrible it is that the latest Disney version teaches people to stay in abusive relationships, which is a perfectly valid point. I tried to expound on a more positive interpretation; that it teaches people not to judge others based on appearance, that some monsters are made that way simple by being treated as monsters, and that treating others well is a good thing that can bring happiness to all involved.
Unfortunately based on the other persons reaction I think I came off as supporting exactly the 'problem point' they were condemning, and maybe making myself seem like a creepy psycho:(.
That really wasn't what I meant but when I realized what was happening I disengaged to avoid digging the hole any deeper, and I never got a chance to try to clarify myself.
