Assorted things, I don't know.

***I came across this set of interviews with Rhett last night. It's worth investing the 30 minutes or so if you're a big fan; he has a lot of interesting things to say and previews bits of some of the new songs.

The music sounds great and even though I was disappointed with the lack-of-cleverness in some of the lyrics, he did pull out at least one classic Rhett-style couplet: He said "can I buy you a drink?" / What he meant was "can I buy you?"

And can you BELIEVE that Rhett turns 40 tomorrow? He is ageless.

***Can't wait for football to start next week. I am so excited to have this guy back (knock on wood). I could watch that slow-motion replay for HOURS, but I prefer some live highlights.

***I used my previously-mentioned unexpected time off to stockpile some soup and chili:

I know I'm going to be working late every night for the next month, so those are all frozen in single-serving sizes. Easy. Dorky.

***Got the following text message from Aunt Louie on Friday, and it made me smile: We r such pittburgh women. We know the sports scoop before the guys AND we of course know the pop culture connections!

The story, for posterity: The Penguins signed newlywed Mike Comrie on Friday. I texted my brothers as soon as I saw the news and said something like "OMG, is Hilary Duff coming to Pittsburgh!?" PJ texted back "You mean Hilary Comrie?" I said, "That is exactly what I mean. Not sure how I feel about this signing." And then instead of a text back, I got a call from PJ saying, "WAIT, WE SIGNED COMRIE?!?" He thought my first text was about Hilary coming to Pittsburgh for a show or something, and wasn't sure why I was excited about it. I had gotten to work late because I went to the eye doctor, so I figured everyone had heard/read the news before me. I guess that was not the case.

Shortly after that, I got a text from Louie, something about the Comries coming to Pittsburgh, and I recounted the confusion with PJ. That text up there was her perfect reply.
