On my way home last night, I walked by Porter Square Books and there was a huge crowd. They had moved all the center shelves out and put in rows of chairs, and then there were people lined up outside peering in the windows. They do lots of readings and book signings there, but I've never seen a crowd like that. I wondered what was going on, but figured if it was someone I cared about, I would have noticed it on the schedule. Because I'm in there a lot, and I usually glance at the calendar.
It was David Sedaris. No wonder it was such a circus - since when does David Sedaris come to a little place like PSB? I'm an idiot. I especially wish I had gone because rumor has it one of his sisters (I'm blanking - is it Gretchen or Lisa?) lives in the neighborhood, and I always wonder if I see her around all the time and don't know it. Maybe she would have been there, and I could have solved the mystery.
