Hmmm. Well, Fin, the thing about Alfred, is that he has a flair for the dramatic. He probably only told you that for sympathy and attention.

I think it was more because he has a tendency to exaggerate and the attention more than anything else.

But, um, if you didn't say that, then what? He at least thought whatever you said was bad enough.

Hyperbole and complete lies are different things.

Recently? I...I really don't know. I don't recall saying anything truly horrible at any point.

In that last incident? I told him that more maturity is expected from him than from Peter, and that his refusal to act like an adult makes him intolerable.

English is my second language, and I understand it just fine. If he doesn't, that's a personal problem, which I have nothing to do with.

It's.. not that, it's the inflection of how you say it. He's an idiot so if it sounds as if there's a way that everyone hates him and you don't say that, he'll think it.
