It's been raining here for several days now and I feel relieved and a bit soggy. Even the ghetto looks beautiful when it rains. I never realized how many Victorian looking houses were downtown until today and they're all falling apart, slowly. I finally saw FREAKS and loved it. And the official LIFE AQUATIC website has printable membership cards so you too can join the Steve Zissou fan club, which I did and there's a space to paste on a picture and I laminated one for me and one for my boyfriend.
I actually went out a few nights ago, to a social event (a good friend of mine turned 23) and we went to this cafe in Seal Beach that has a bar and a patio, and it actually wasn't raining. But there were so many people, and the people I knew were busy talking to other people, and I didn't want to just stand around smiling, listening to other peoples' conversations, so I spent most of the night outside on the patio, drinking gin and tonics and listening to this not-quite-acquaintance/not-quite-friend talk about conspiracy theories and his hospitalization, which he never quite explained, and he just kept getting more and more drunk, and I thought to myself, this is why I get coffee and take up granny hobbies like knitting and embroidery.
