"She works hard for the money."

So, I finally let it out.
After a couple of drinks, I told one of the managers at my place of employment how I felt...about sexism, racism, and favortism in our workplace. I think I pissed him off...I think he's going to go "run and tell" the other people on the management team and I think it's going to upset them. Oh well... Can't take it back now.
Do you know that he told me that racism in my workplace was a "delusion"?
I am really in awe about this guy's intelligence level.

We've also had conversations about smoking in the workplace, after work, after all the customers are gone. Of course, even after the conversation, he proceeded to light a cigarette. The owner of the restaurant said something to him, and he proceeded to smoke. Finally, going outside to only drop the cigarette on the ground and stomp it out. Mind you, we have one of those stupid cigarette tower-thingies that you are suppose to put your cigarette in when you're done.

So I confront him about it again... after the owner is gone. Because he proceeds to light yet another cigarette. So, what do I do? I decide that I need to "go up the chain of command." So I call the owner and "rat" on the manager. Apparently he didn't get my message, but I talked to him about it yesterday. And his words were, "That [smoking] should NOT be happening."

So, guess what happened as soon as I walked out of the building last night? The management and key (or front of house manager wanna-be employees) start all lighting up. Now my question is...what if I'm not the only one? Actually, I know I'm not the only one who feels this way about cigarette smoking in the workplace. I am however the only one with enough balls to stand up for my rights and what is right. But some poor little employee who has not the gumption to say something to the all-so-powerful management team has to still suffer. Idiots.

So I told him to his face that when he lit the cigarette twice, he was saying "fuck you" to me and "fuck you" to his boss. And that... in so many ways is not cool. He then went on to tell me that "people at work say fuck me all the time." And I'm looking at him like "are you serious??? You are a manager. Have some fucking dignity about yourself, man. So, because people at work go around saying fuck you all the time, that means you are going to go around saying fuck this certain employee...when this employee does nothing more than make and save you money?" Then I ask him: "Name me a time when I have ever said, fuck you." But he couldn't do it. So then I proceeded to tell him that his logic in thinking of who to fuck and who not to fuck was of that of a bus boy or hostess, not that of a manager. I told him that I would not have expected that from him...that I expected more, but I suppose that I was overestimating.

I'm sure this whole intellectual conversation either one: pissed him off, or two: left him highly confused. Or maybe both will happen with option two probably happening prior to option one. Oh well. What's a girl to do?
