So, finally, after years of hard slog I can now officially call myself a mad scientist. T'is a good feeling. Life has congratulated me at work by having all the bits of kit that are looked after by 'scientists' promptly go into simultaneous meltdown. Fun times! Still, at least I get to feel useful :)
On the fannish front I find myself slightly dazed and confused. During the Euros there was the usual office sweepstake, which led to me watching some of the matches, which led to me having a 'I remember you...' flashback moment to the last world cup. Which, back to the present, has me currently being sucked into European football, to the extent I was able to have proper conversation with one of our football mad techs this weekend about various teams, ending with me (to their vast amusement) going "HOW DID I GET HERE."
Naturally I hate everything and am hoping this is just a phase that will pass once my usual TV favourites return to distract me. Nothing against football as such, but seriously, sport is far too stressful. Life as a fan is painful enough without adding penalty shootouts to the mix...
