just a warning to all who job hunt - no doubt you have by now realised "Raffles/HwaChong" is a magic word in the educational circles, its a straight drop to hell in the main social circumstance. And my mum thinks its weird i dont tell everyone straight off i'm a rafflesian. asking to get a blanket party. (and this rule pertains to your boss too. basically keep such sensitive info on a strictly need-to-know basis. only let your HR/manager know)
just a demonstration: if you dont like to talk much, and ppl dun know you are from some top school, they think you are shy. if they know, they think you are acting big. soooo. keep your head low.
A more direct example: i just went back to work after a 4-day hiatus and the workplace has acquired a new broom. the boss says, "Go use the new broom". Ok, nothing wrong with that. I innocently ask, wheres the new broom? (Ok, i admit, its a lame question, it should be in the storeroom together with the old broom. but just ask right, it gets the answer faster.) Noooo, he has to shout "4 day break and you want to create trouble here!!??" ooohkay, so we are all peace-loving pacifists. and he proceeds to huff his way to the broom and throw it at me.
Was that really warranted? I don't really think so, and my aim right now is just to avoid the daily tirade in the morning... :X
