My constant theory that the majority of the American audience has no idea whatsoever what makes a good movie good (fueled by the cancellation of many good series - why yes, I am still bitter about Pushing Daisies), instead of being shotdown, continues to prove itself right. There's got to be something wrong when the audience finds something like Ben Stiller's "The Heartbreak Kid" funny instead of insulting, ridiculous and of simply bad taste, and considering "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" a great movie, when it's all about characters devoid of anything but sexual desire.
Or maybe I just was not made to like Woody Allen films, seeing this is the second time I try to watch something of his (I tried Match Point last year, and me and my older brother didn't last half an hour). But he just comes off as pretentious, putting pretty actors and actresses together and trying to make something smart about human relationships, but in the end, the smart girl is actually dumb (not for going for the passion adventure, but for staying in the unhappy marriage after it!), and the adventurous girl is flat and confused. And everything drags out to the point of deep annoyance.
Please. If I ever agree to watch a Woody Allen movie again, someone shoot me in the head.
Even if it has Ewan and Colin in it. It's not worth it.
