So ... shit. I picked up some kind of viral eye infection. In the span of 6 hours I went from normal to one eye swollen mostly shut. I can look forward to the other eye taking part in the fun soon. Because the virus is very communicable, I am what's known as "krank gescrieben", that is, I have a doctor's note to stay home the rest of the week

I'm currently battling Blepharatis, and it's been bad enough to swell my eyes something fierce. I feel your pain.

Well, that sucks, but it's nice to see how it was handled. Here we complain that people come in when they're sick, but then make policies that penalize people for not coming in.

That's a big difference here. If you come in when you are sick people get kinda mad at you. "Toughing it out" is the wrong thing to do. It's so easy to just go to the doctor that you are expected to.
