Until I can buy a house for $350 a month, I'm staying a renter. :D

House comes complete with public water and some walls. Only 79 years old. Don't say I never did anything for you.

Damn that is a swank ass house. I bet the kitchen is perfect for my meth business!

In srsnss though, I think Dustin and I are thinking of buying a house in the near future. I'm just so overwhelmed by the idea that my brain shuts down when I think about it too much.

Buying a house is either not as bad, worse, or about the same as what you think it is.

Ooh, where would such a thing be located in the house? We have gas heating.

Haha, yeah, that's the kind of thing I've never had to worry about in an apartment and probably wouldn't have realized for years, too.

I'll try and remember to check it when I get home.

Thank you sir.

The home insurance thing was sprung on me 1 day before closing. Yeah, it fell through the cracks somehow. I didn't even know about it, and the lender forgot to tell me. Ultimately it forced the closing to be pushed back.

I was actually warned about the hot water heater thing, so I knew not to do it. I just wish the person that DID do it was warned, so that I wouldn't have to pay to fix their mistake. :)

As for the HOA, it was disclosed at closing. But I never knew about it until maybe 3 days before closing. Honestly, even if I knew about it up front, it wouldn't have changed my decision to buy the house. It just sucks to have something pop up unexpectedly that costs you $100/month.

We also were sprung with the HOA dues at the last minute (but at least it was BEFORE closing, yikes!). Only...ours are only $150 a YEAR, not a month. Ah, Cartersville. Land of more house for less money, and apparently, really cheap HOA fees.

When my rent is way more than many mortgage payments since I'm in northern VA, escaping rent slavery sure sounds good.

"So everyone go buy a house. Help the economy. Obama will give you $8,000 if you do."

Lol. Get a variable rate mortgage too!
