University starts tomorrow.
Ze holiday is over. In a way good, in (many more) ways bad. But oh well. Two more years till I decide what I want to do in my life! What fun, scary adult jobs await me? Well it's actually pretty likely I'll become a CA (chartered accountant), and get a job with one of the big accounting firms. Hopefully then I'd be able to talk to them about a transfer overseas, which would be interesting. If not, I'd work to earn money, find a job there and go see how I like it for a couple of years.
I think that is not too bad a plan (apart from the actual 'work as an accountant' part...). But, as I said, we shall see how things go.
In any case, pity me with my schedule! I've been spoilt by Nottingham and its a) few contact hours and b) being able to (almost) roll out of bed half an hour before classes.
Mondays - 1.15pm - 3.15pm (Two lectures)
Tuesdays - 9.00am - 5.15pm (Two lectures, three tutorials)
Wednesdays - 2.15pm - 3.15pm (One lecture)
Thursdays - 9.00am - 5.15pm (Three lectures, one tutorial)
Fridays - FREE
Sigh. My sister said I should use the long days to get work done. I guess I should. This semester I've resolved to work better. Do my reading on time, for once. Do more than just the bare minimum throughout the term. Extra 'encouragement' comes in the form of three mid semester exams, as well as assignments. I'm not working this semester, and hopefully not next semester either. So I have the time (and the energy) to bring my average up.
It's gotten to the stage in my degree where I have to start applying for cadetships with the major accounting firms. Well, I don't have to, but it's pretty important. Before you qualify as a CA (after doing a few extra classes and exams), you need to work a year as an accountant under supervision. Also, it's more likely to be the bigger firms who'll have the international connections to allow me to transfer within the company. So it makes sense. Plus, never going back into retail/hospitality sounds very enticing.
It seems like I'm doing fairly well at pretending I know what I'm doing. Scary.
I've actually been sketching a lot recently. Almost every day, which is amazing considering sometimes I go for months without touching a sketchbook. But I do like some of what I've done, so will probably visit the computer room at uni fairly soon. I'm considering going in before classes on Monday so I can. I wonder if the computer room staff will remember me? It has, after all, been over 6 months since I was last in. But since I have my laptop now I won't really have much other reason to be going there, which is nice, as the queues could be incredibly frustrating. I really should buy my own scanner, and maybe buy Photoshop. Have to consider how serious I am about drawing though, really.
On Friday some friends and I went out to the shopping centre, just to catch up and stuff. I was t3h awesome- I actually picked up Mighty Sheep and brought her to the centre in one piece! And I only (almost) endangered her life the one time! On the way home another car turned into the lane I was in rather rapidly, but that was not my fault.. I really should drive some more before I volunteer picking up people again, it's a) nerve wracking b) I get self conscious about my driving and c) it's probably not the safest thing to be in a car with a driver who's already suffering the previous two points.
This weekend's been quiet, I haven't really done anything. We shall see how university goes, anyway.
