Today I went into the city and fell victim to the siren call of Lush. I know quite a few people on my friends list who love the store and its products, but I've always felt vaguely intimidated about going in and browsing, let alone buying things.
But
blonde_lili has inspired me with her decision to use baking soda and vinegar instead of shampoo in her hair. I've known about this for a while (I stumbled onto the
longhair community when I was surfing through other peoples' friends lists), but I didn't know how my hair would react to it. I didn't want to try experimenting while I still had to go to work and risk looking all greasy and unwashed.
I used to wash my hair every other day, and thought it was good, if a bit frizzy and tending to shed easily. These days I've managed to reduce the number of washes to about two a week. Now I'm finding my hair is greasy at the roots, dry at the ends and I seem to have dandruff. (I feel vaguely guilty for over-sharing, I'm sorry.)
Anyway. So now that I've finished my last bottle of conditioner I figured I'd try some of the solid stuff from Lush. I got
Jungle, and once my shampoo runs out I'll swap to trying the baking soda and vinegar with a condition once a week or so.
Bah, J wants to go running. He is far too eager. Back later!
