We listened to the inauguration on the radio. It felt very old fashioned and quaint, trying to picture what it would look like.
Neither of us thought to look for online streaming of it - I guess we're kind of getting used to the radio. But now I'm watching videos that have been put up on YouTube. I guess I'll go look at official news sites in a bit, to see if I can watch his speech in one go.
I love radio! Not the annoying music channels which I can't stand even if they do play a song I like once in a while. I love the voices (when they're talking about interesting things). I love the mystery of the person behind the voice, the uncertainty of it all. I loved getting to sit back and watch the inauguration in my mind's eye.
BBC 7 presents dramatisations of stories every day, all the time. At the moment we tune in religiously at 6pm every night, for a half hour of a Terry Pratchett book (at the moment we're up to part three of Wyrd Sisters) and then a half hour of Richard Matheson's I am Legend. I did try listening to World Service for a bit, but they tended to get repetitive with their news stories, fixating on them for hours at a time. Now I listen to BBC 5Live, which is a happy mix of world and local news, and the presenters aren't annoying.
Hooray for Obama! I am glad I got to see hear this.
