Underground barista

I am using my barista skills to create the perfect vanilla soy chai without steamed milk or proper vanilla flavouring (I am stealing vanilla extract). I am vaguely grumpy, as I went hunting for vanilla flavouring specifically for drinks today - the supermarket apparently had no idea such stuff existed.

I passed multiple Gloria Jeans' when I was searching for flavouring. They do sell their flavourings, but the thought of buying anything from them just makes me want to poke my eyes out with pointy sticks. It's not a Starbucks-loyalty thing, it's an Anti-creepy Church thing. I am amused though, the latest GJ promotion is Tiramisu flavoured lattes.

Coffee-flavoured coffee for all!

Then I went to Hudson's because I knew they sold their flavourings, except when I got there the only options were Caramel Fudge and Irish Cream. I wouldn't have minded caramel, but the fudge part makes me uncertain whether it'll be too fudgey for chai (I know what I mean, that's what's important here). And I don't really like Irish Cream. Anyway. At that point I realised I had $8 in my wallet and a bottle of syrup costs about $7 and I'm trying to avoid withdrawing more money because then that means I spend it. So I went away to make my own version of my current favourite drink.

Anyway. So far my experiments lead me to this recipe:

1/3~ish cup chai concentrate from work (not the ultra concentrated stuff we use behind the counter, just the retail stuff)
2/3~ish cup soy milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Apply heat!

I believe I may like more vanilla soon. :D Mmmm. Sugar. The instructions on the chai say use it in a 50:50 mixture, but I prefer creamier drinks, and it makes the spices more soothing and less RAHH I AM SPICE I WILL ATTACK YOU NOW. Honestly, I just like sugar. That is my secret shame as a barista. I know, I know. I should resign.

Anyway, so I went hunting after I handed my essay in (yay, essay handed in!), and turned up nothing, so I went to the library. Found a Batgirl book! Batgirl: Silent Running. Read it very quickly - I guess that tends to happen when the main character can't speak for half the book. :P But I liked it. Must read more!

Avoiding thinking about auditing exam right now, but I'll be OK. Auditing makes sense. Exams make sense.

Two exams to go!
