A dreaded sunny day

May 26, 2008 16:45

I have five hours of classes left.

Tomorrow I technically don't have anything (because the morning lecture's moved to the evening, and the afternoon lectures have finished up for the semester), but I'm still going in because they're having some open forum thing on American politics. So, whoo, hopefully bonus material for the exam! (Or one last day at uni since they are so obviously numbered now.)

Wednesday I have two classes, and Thursday I have one tutorial and two hours of a guest lecturer in the evening (so technically not examinable, and it'll be recorded anyway so I might listen to it during the study break). Lectures at 5pm and going till 7pm are just wrong. I am not made for night school!

I have one last 6am start at work before I am off on annual leave (I figured I wanted a break anyway, so I'll take it and get some study done for my last exams). To be honest waking up at 4am is a lot easier than waking up for any other early(ish) start. I think the threat of missing the only train that'll get me to work on time is a fairly big motivator. The heater I stole from my sister's room also makes it nicer to get out of bed, and I tend to lean over it as I dress to steal extra warmth.

There are regulars at my station who catch the 5.08am train. I recognise them every morning, and we can tell all the people who don't usually catch the first train of the day. They wander way up the top of the platform when the trains are only three carriages long (as opposed to six) and stop near the entrance (which is the other end of the platform). I enjoy a little amusement at their expense, I admit, when they have to hurriedly walk back to get on the train.

My favourite thing is to get on the very quiet train and find the heaters are running and it's toasty and warm. Everyone tends to nap together.

I still don't know what I'm going to do with myself once uni ends. I know what I should do, but there's nothing that suggests what I want to do.

Anyway. I am wearing my elephant earrings, rediscovered when I went raiding through the jewellery boxes for stuff to wear to the engagement party. I am trying to resist naming them.

This one is to show it with some idea of scale.

Not the best photos as I didn't bother getting out the tripod, but wow do I love Henry's macro now. I need to go insect stalking some time soon.
