Weekend fun

This past weekend, Corran came down to hang out with me and Rozard. It was cool.

Saturday, we went to Busch Gardens amusement park FOR FREE, and rode some kick-ass rides...including the new one that goes straight down and whatnot. I gave Eric and Brian a little lesson in roller coaster physics and I think they'll listen to me next time (hopefully).

Sunday, we went to Park Avenue CDs store to meet Mae and hear an acoustic set of songs. Chico_Chan and Aizuzuzwei also showed up, fortunately, and we used them to get to the front of the line. We stayed and talked with Mae for a little bit, got stuff signed (Ashley and I talked one of the guys to draw a mustache on the band member's face that wasn't there at the time...good stuff), and told them about the Mae Project. They seemed to really like the idea. Brian was being a frickin' worry wart about legality issues (he STILL is).

That night, me, Brian, Eric, and several of Brian's coworkers went to the Mae concert at The Social in downtown Orlando. It turns out that one of his coworkers was one of the first friends I made at UCF that I haven't seen since, well, the beginning of the semester of last year. The night started off with Mashlin, then Mute Math, Circa Survive, and finally Mae.

Mashlin was great, but for some reason, I don't remember a lot of when they played unfortunately.

Mute Math was frickin' AWESOME! Brian said that it was the best live performance he's ever seen. It was definitely sweet. Right before they started, the drummer puts on a pair of headphones and DUCT-TAPES it to his head! He then proceeded to do a really cool drum beat. That guy, all throughout the night, RAWKED HARD! At one point, he started banging on the mic stand and it was so sweet. The duct tape was actually a necessity, as well as for show. Later, at one point, the main singer hops on top of his organ/piano thing and jams out with an 80's keyboard guitar. Later on, he took out the "Atari" or the "Ataritar" (Atari Guitar), a homemade guitar that used touch-pads instead of strings and made the different sounds those electronic toy guns make. It looked like a bad-ass mix between an old-school NES controller and something that was used in Back to the Future.

Circa Survive sucked...no more comments about them.

Mae was awesome, as was to be expected. I forgot if they did anything that astounded me like Mute Math though. They did an incredible job, nonetheless.

What was really cool, though, is that after the show ended and everyone was being ushered out, we got to stay behind and talk with the bands. The guys from Mute Math were really cool to talk to, and so were the guys from Mae. Brian went further in detail about the Mae Project, explaining more of it to the guys. He even made some copies of the Random Destination Studios DVD and gave them to the guy who filmed the videos for Mae.

The guys from Mae said that they were really interested in the project and would like to see it when it's done. YOU HEAR THAT, EDITORS?! DON'T SLACK OFF! FINISH YOUR VIDEOS! Of course, Eric had to be the realist and ask Brian and I what would happen if the project fell through.....DAMN YOU ERIC! DON'T JINX US!

At the end of everything, I was able to leave with a broken drumstick and a little towel, and Brian got a lot of stuff...I don't know if I should say exactly what though...it's nothing bad though. I promise...
