You remind me so much of my younger self. It kind of scares me.

Nonetheless, I wish someone told me what I know now when I was your age, so I will take the opportunity to do that now.

I want you to know that most people don’t believe in God. It is something like 88% of our population that claims to believe in God, but I would bet that if you were to ask that same group if they take the Bible as complete truth - the majority would say no.

It is my theory that no one really believes in God, but they fear the possibility of God being real. It is a pretty simple form of logic; better safe than sorry. It makes sense to go ahead and believe in God, because what is the worst-case scenario? You just die with your false belief, but if you don’t believe in God, what is the worst-case scenario? You die and then go burn in hell. Why not take the better side of things?

With all that in mind, my other theory is that if it were a fact that when we die there is no afterlife, our population would be greatly different. There are two forms of evidence behind this theory. One, look at how much different the average Muslim is compared to a Christian. Basically, they have the same basis of religion with just a few differences here and there. One group can be quite violent. The other group is rarely violent - at least in modern day times. Just their differences in the belief of a god can change their whole perspective of how they look at life.

Another piece of evidence in relation to the importance of fearing God is the two of us. We are miserable and angry. I can only speak for myself, but I know that I am miserable because I know that there isn’t really anything to live for. We are just this continued line of humans that are born and then die. We have no true greater purpose, and there is no evidence that we will ever have a purpose.

I am rather ethical, though, and I have relatively strong morals. I see the society for what it is, a peaceful way in this strange world. I am very afraid that if the rest of the country thought like I do, then this society would be much more chaotic. I just don’t have faith in their morals.

The point is that we shouldn’t try to persuade Christians to hate God. I know that this little comment of mine isn’t helping, but I just wanted to pass on the info to fellow atheists. If you don’t believe in God, that is fine and even logical. But, please just understand that the reality is that the greater population cannot handle such a line of thought. They need God.

We have grown accustomed to sitting alone in the corner of the room pondering our existence. I know that corner can get lonely sometimes, but trust me when I say that you don’t want to live in a world of corner-dwellers. Basically the point is that we should remain in that corner alone and never try to encourage someone to fall into the same hole.

Let them keep what they have, something that we will never see again. Bliss.
