Got a good six hours' sleep last night!
Started off the morning at a workshop called "How to Write the Right Way", led by authors, and discussing the different ways authors write their stories in terms of planning, notes, chronology, etc, etc. When all is said and done, write the way that works best for you. :) But it's interesting how vastly different their approaches are. Julie Czerneda (sp?) talked about how once, she built a 3D model of the setting for one of her books, and had carpal tunnel so badly for the next six months that she couldn't lift her arm(s?). That's dedication. Another author just starts writing and takes stock every ten pages or so. We all work differently.
Now, I haven't seen any Stargate Universe eps, but Alaina Huffman gave a good talk. She actually knows names of eps! Not only from Universe, but also from Smallville. This is a rarity for actors, in my (admittedly limited experience). She has a good sense of humour and I enjoyed the hour. Apparently the cast has this "iPhone game" where, once filming is paused, they whip out their phones and the first person to take a picture of another cast member and email it to him/her without getting noticed by their target wins. Whatever keeps you amused, right? ;)
(I still won't be watching Universe.)
Took a break, strolled through the dealer's room, scouted out some more Stargate symbols. I've also started working on ConClue, where you have to figure out which character was killed by which person/weapon/amusing thing (flamed to death on the internet!), but I'm many short on that so I probably won't be handing that one in.
So, who knew that Ethan Phillips does standup comedy? I didn't! But now I do. ;) He spent the first fifteen minutes or so doing jokes. He also gets easily distracted into side stories. Fun times all around.
Bought a Stargate patch for the front of my laptop case, and a couple of bracelets. :)
Robin Dunne in T-minus 19 minutes! Give or take. =D
