3x20: "Blood Ties"
Weiss gets angry! Vaughn gets tortured! Syd meets her sister! Lauren is still a bitch and Sark is still one sexy mofo!
I think Vaughn is starting to like that shooting range. Well I like it because he looks hot when he's in there shooting. Anyway, Syd meets Jack in a warehouse place and she sees that Sloane is, in fact, alive. Momentarily, we are convinced that Syd was sad to hear of Sloane's death but instead she just wanted to find her sister. Can you feel the love? Sloane smashes the glass and Flubber appears, aka green goo.
Vaughn gets a call from the guy Jack played chess with and finds that his father was also a follower of Rambaldi. (Why doesn't the whole world just follow him? Hell, I might as well say I love Rambaldi too! For a dead guy, he sure knows how to stir things up!) His father was killed protecting the Passenger; Irina killed him. He also told Vaughn where the Passenger was located (v. important). Faced with this shocking piece of info, he walks out of the elevator and gets kidnapped. That's what happens when you're told something so startling. You get kidnapped.
Oh, and Weiss gets mad when he realizes that he wasn't following Lauren. Angry!Weiss is great. "NO!" *slams steering wheel*
So back to the kidnapping. Yeah, Vaughn gets tortured by Sark via electrocution. Vaughn said something like "You look like you've just reach puberty" to Sark and thus got electrocuted some more. Lauren comes in and pretends to be lovey-dovey when she really isn't. Go Vaughn for saying things like, "What's it to you?" and "Why do you care?"
Meanwhile, the trio of Syd/Jack/Sloane break into the Smithsonian to retrieve another Rambaldi artifact. Geeky!Syd is great as always. The guy was like, "You know most people don't that the [I forget which dinosaur] has another brain..." And Syd goes, "...in the spinal cord." The guy most have been thinking, "You are my one and only love!" Anyway, dead/ghost Sloane pays a visit to the Trust and does his usual threatening act. We get the artifact and put the Flubber in and what do we get? Brain waves. What? you say? I say brain waves. Turns out, each person has their own brain wave pattern like we all have our own fingerprint. Neat? I think so. Anyway, Jack does his magic and we find out where the sis is located: Chechnya!
Back to tortured!Vaughn. Sark "administered" the Inferno but really didn't. Laurens like "I don't know how you survived it but you have to get out of here so we can set you up again!" But Vaughn's too smaht for that! He crashes the truck and tries to get away when Sark/Lauren come and kidnap him again. This time, the Inferno is administered and Vaughn gets pretty close to telling them when Sark receives a phone call getting the location of the Passenger. Sark tells Lauren to kill Vaughn; she increases dosage despite my many protests.
Syd gets to Chechnya and creates a diversion to get into the facility. Turns out her sister, played by Mia Maestro, is also an agent (for Argentina?) and was just pretending to be catatonic. Sister act! takes place, kicking some major arse. Syd/Nadia (I think it's Nadia?) have a little heart-to-heart while escaping. Aww.
[I think Mia Maestro is very pretty. She's got those Jennifer Connelly eyebrows -- nice eyebrows as opposed to Lauren's weird ones. Me thinks Mia will be a big star soon.]
Back to to saving tortured!Vaughn. Marshall helps locate him amidst his "lots of freakazoids there" and "not a place you'd wanna be after hours unless you know...you wanna, you know." My buddy Weiss saves the day again! Love ya man.
Sloane with his daughter was kind of awkward to see. How can such a little evil man be so caring? The Covenant comes to find Nadia while Syd/Jack fend off them off only to come back to an empty room. Smart Syd/Jack hide in the ceiling when they realize that Sloane set them up. He wanted to kidnap his daughter in order to what? Shoot her up with that green goo while she seizes like no other. Sloane, you have not changed one bit.
Syd comes to see Vaughn and aww. This reminded me "Counteragent" from last season when Vaughn caught the virus and almost died. A Syd/Vaughn moment, holding hands. Aww. Anyway, he tells her not to go after her sister because "the Chosen one and the Prophecy will battle and neither one will survive." Man.
I liked this episode a lot. Wet!Vaughn being tortured? Wow. And I think Sark should flip his hair or get it buzzed again. It's looking kind of funky.
Only 2 episodes left and I will be Alias deprived until September. I know JJ will have another big why-are-you-torturing-me-like-this cliffhanger.
