Colouring Tutorial #1
to
NOTE - This type of colouring is mainly for images with yellow/green/redish hues :) Be aware that your image should mainly be yellow-ey/green/redish, or you can mess around however you want with the settings :)
1. Do your normal crap, crop, sharben blah blah blah. This tutorial works for any sized image, so don't worry about having to keep it down to 100x100; I will be keeping it at that size cause its just easier. I'm using a picture of Jack Marin cause he is freaking awesome =D Most Jack Marin pictures have a yellowey/green tinge to them; if you're stuck for images just search him in photobucket.com :)
I didn't do anything to my icon except cropped it, I liked the size it was at so I just moved it around until I liked the position.
Tip: Try different positions, try something different; remember that you don't always have to fit in every little detail.
2. Now, we have a few selective colouring layers to get through so just bear with me :) This selective colouring layer doesn't really do much to the image, just kind of preps it. It really does make the difference with the next selective colouring so unless you want your image UBER YELLOW don't ignore it :)
Reds
Cyans / +23 Yellow / +1 Black / -6
Yellows
Yellow / -43 3.
A second selective colouring layer.
Reds
Cyan / -44 Magenta / +1 Yellow / +11 Yellows
Yellow / +26
Nuetrals
Cyan / +100 Magenta / +19 Yellow / - 13 Black / -7
3. Another selective colouring layer. This one gives more depth to the previous one :) Not much of a difference though -____-
Yellows Cyans / +28 Yellow / +11 Black / +6
4. Time for a curves Layer =D
Red
/ I= 73 O=79, I=140 O=123, I=197 O=188
Green

Blue

5. Another selective colouring.
Whites
Yellow / -40 Black / -49 Blacks Black / +4
6. This layer doesn't really count, it just makes it a tad more vibrant :) Hue/Saturation (MASTER) Saturation / +30
7. Add a new layer filled with #0C0400, set to exlusion at 80%. 8. Add another fill layer filled with #DFDFDF, set to Colour Burn @ 20%.
Tip: Try and mess around with this tutorial, as I said not all images are like the one I chose to don't be afraid if yours screws up or doesn't achieve the same result =D
