It was a very lazy Sunday. I got up around noon, and headed off to lunch. A lot of people went home for the weekend, and a lot of people had sports meetings, so not very many people were still in the dorm. Still, I sat down to eat with Austin, and we debated the randomness of his Physics/War Studies double major vs. my English/Spanish/Environmental Studies platter. Then I headed off to wander around central London.
To get around London, you can either get a paper ticket, or an Oyster Card. You generally want to go for the Oyster Card, because it's cheaper the longer you use it. Once you get an Oyster Card, you can get either:
1. Pay-as-you-go (which you keep putting money on)
2. Weekly or monthly bus pass (which only lets you ride the bus for a week/month)
3. Weekly or monthly travel card (with which you can ride everything - train, tube, and bus)
I have the weekly travel card, so I was in heaven. I hopped on the train, got the tube, wandered around by the Thames, walked up to the Student Union -- basically just had fun walking around and enjoying the city. Then I worked my way back to the dorm, ran by Sainsbury's to pick up some sandwich stuff, then headed off to dinner.
I had dinner with Ali and Steph, which was fun. Stephen showed up halfway through and invited me off to another jam session in Ed's room. It was fun -- not quite as good as the last one, for some reason we were really on that time -- and Molly and Alma showed up later to praise Stephen's glorious violin skills. One 'eep!' bit: my friend Lucie text messaged me, asking if I was singing or playing instruments, and I replied yes. She replied with "you're making a bloody racket!" which is when I realized she had the room next door to Ed, and she was supposed to be studying that night.
I mentioned it to the rest of the room, but it was kind of shrugged off, so I realized I had to go to Movie Night anyways and I excused myself. I had told Austin, Steph, and Shanel that I would meet them at the Movie Night in the common room -- they were playing Pulp Fiction. When I got there, they had already started the movie, so I could only find Austin in the dark. I watched up until after Martin's unfortunate end -- including my favorite, "do they speak English in 'what'?!" -- but then I was feeling restless (to me, it's a long movie) so I went off to my room.
