Today is Good Friday, the day in the Church year on which we remember the betrayal of Christ by humanity and His crucifixion. It is the second phase of the Easter Triduum (Maundy Thursday which was yesterday, the day paralleling when Christ instituted The Eucharist and Apostolic Ministry in the Church on the night before He was betrayed is the first).
