Guess what I did today? That's right. Abso-fucking-lutely nothing. That's alright though, cause I have to walk down to town tomorrow. Colin's going to Spain in October, so I'm going to have to be able to get around without anyone's help. We'll see if I'm capable of that. I also need to time how long it takes me to get to St. Joseph's so that I know what time I have to leave to get there for mass if I'm walking. It's about a mile, so I figure if I give myself 20-30 minutes I can make it there on time with no problem. And not be huffing and puffing by the time I get there.
I watched The Notorious Bettie Page today. Besides the obvious fact that David Strathairn is in it being all sexy and senator like, I thought it was really quite good. It, like Shortbus and Secretary before it, portrays so-called sexual deviancies as atypical rather than abnormal. Though, I will admit, to a lesser extent than the other two films I mentioned. While I didn't like that they cast someone quite as thin as they did (Bettie was actually kind of big girl), I thought she did a marvelous job imbuing her portrayal with the spark and, well, spunk that one can clearly see in all of Bettie's work.
Speaking of things I watched, I also got in another couple of episodes of QI. Have I mentioned how much I love Vic Reeves? Cause I do. It's a fucking tragedy he's married. Well, at least he's not gay. Anyone know if Sean Locke is married? ;)
The water has been turned off all day. It was supposed to be turned back on at 9 this evening. It is now 10:15 and there is still no water. It's been off since 9 this morning. I'm going to be very angry if I have to get up at 8 am on Sunday morning in order to be able to take a shower before mass. We had to fill up the bathtub last night so that we could flush the toilet. I can't believe I ever took running water for granted.
Colin, Betty and I are all going to the National Maritime Museum on Tuesday next week. That's also where they have the clock. By that I mean the GMT clock. Not to mention all the naval uniforms. Huzzah, indeed. Breeches and frock coats and stockings and wigs. Isn't that every girl's dream?
Ah well, now that I've posted the most random entry ever, back to my Vatican documentary. (Which, as it happens, is narrated by Martin Sheen. Have I mentioned I'm fiending for West Wing?)
