Day 1

Aug 15, 2007 22:47

Well, I made it here in one piece.  I'm exhausted, but that's to be expected.

Went to mass this evening, that whole day of obligation thing and all that.  It had to be the oddest sermon I've ever heard.  It sounded more like an academic paper rather than an inspirational interpretation of the gospel (which is what I'm used to).  He was giving dates and research and all kinds of weird stuff.  He also got a little fire and brimstone-y for a second there.  Scared the shit out of me.  Not to mention that my accent (or lack thereof) makes me stick out like a sore thumb.  Now I really have to know the words of the Apostles Creed.

I met my cousin Reiland for the first time.  I'm pretty sure we could be partners in crime during my stay here.  He's just as awesome as his father.  Speaking of which, I have some video of Ray (Reiland's dad) and his new granddaughter (my other cousin Holly's baby).  To put this in perspective, Ray was recently attacked at a gig he was playing and nearly died in the hospital.  So the fact that he's sitting there playing with his granddaughter is amazing.  That's also why he looks so rough.  I still don't think he looks 64, though.

The following picture probably looks like shit cause I don't have my computer over here yet and thus, no Photoshop.  I'm going to try and use my cousin's pimp ass camera to take some more pictures at some point, though.

Download the video here.
