Musings about some events from the past few weeks:
~ Seeing the re-runs of the Tonight Show episodes from 1999 and thereabouts is incredible, particularly when comparing the monologues and discussions to how our world has changed since. The world has lost the little innocence it had and I, being an eternal optimist, remain hoping we are going to regain it someday.
~ Talk about innocence... The family fantasy Enchanted was number one at the box office the past weekend. The number two film was the dramedy This Christmas, while the third place belonged to the animated action fantasy Beowulf. A refreshing tally, considering how violence pervades today's films, even constructing unnerving quote-on-quote sub-genres.
~ The elusive daylight of winter is upon us, getting lost in the night's icy blue cloak like clockwork. I have always loved the evening blue, but especially the one that winter brings. There is something about the blue hues reflecting in the snow, creating an illusion of being in a parallel universe within your own. As the evening metamorphoses into its Gothic self, the dark brings out fantasies and the anticipation of the unknown.
