But quickly run to the milk-white steed,
Pu ye his rider down.
"For I'll ride on the milk-white steed,
And ay nearest the town,
Because I was an earthly knight
They gie me that renown."
-Tam Lin, Anonymous
The first time I read that poem, I was ten, and it confused me to no end. However, that bears no relation to this entry. I just happen to be fond of Tam Lin.
Hogwarts starts again in a few days. Seems odd that this is going to be my last year. However, there's no point in dwelling on that fact. It's just another year, only I shan't be making the trip again after this year.
The past days have been spent working in libraries. Some people never pay much attention to librarians, except when they need them. However, it's useful to be nice to them, as it means they'll be more willing to let you go into places most people can't go. So I've been spendig time in dark and dusty stacks reading old books on all sorts of subjects. I even happened to find a few early breeding records of race horses, which was a nice surprise. There were some lovely travelogues of the Americas and Africa, which had some interesting information on local spirits and customs invoving them. Pity they can't leave the library.
All in all, this has been a good break. I'm not complaining.
