A Saturday afternoon out

Last Saturday we enjoyed a great afternoon out.

First we went to see "Making Colour" an exhibition at the National Gallery that traces the story of the pigments used by painters over the centuries.
It is set out as a colour wheel with different rooms dedicated to different colours. It uses works of art (mostly from the Gallery itself) to illustrate the different types of material, their origin and also what happened to some of the colours over time.
It was utterly compelling!

And this is picture of the blue cock in Trafalgar Square because a) it's colourful and b) one can never have enough pictures of cocks! LOL!

We just had enough time to get to the St. James Theatre near Victoria/Buckingham Palace to see this show

It was in the Studio which is a very intimate venue, where we sat around tables.
We both love Celia Imrie and the show was just wonderful.
My only complaint was that wasn't long enough!

She was on stage with 2 musicians and 2 rather hunky dancers, inches away from where we were sitting. (She said that she had spent weeks trying to find a song as an excuse to get them to take their tops off until she came up with The Blacksmith Blues).
She doesn't have a brilliant singing voice but that's really besides the point. It's her personality and humour that shone through the show, which mixed some jazzy numbers with anecdotes about her career and some hilarious songs.

After the show, we went for a meal at Zizzi, an Italian restaurant nearby.

And this is us at home wearing the paper hats that were handed out to the audience as part of the encore number.
