We hadn't been to cinema in months - last time we went to see "Hope Springs" with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, which was pleasant enough but didn't impress me.
Last night I met Adrian at Victoria (he had attended a leaving do at the Garden Museum earlier) and we travelled to Beckenham where our nearest cinema is located.
We had fish&chips and then went to the Odeon to see "Skyfall", the latest 007 film. (
london1952 got a concession ticket! Yay!)
The seats were not very comfortable (not much leg room) and I was showered in soft drink from the row behind during the adverts (the girl who did it was very apologetic and luckily for me it must have been a diet fizzy drink as my bald head wasn't sticky).
Despite all of this, I really enjoyed the film.
The format is a bit different from previous Bond offerings and it was great to see more of "M" (Judi Dench).
London in the film looked spectacular I must say, and it was lovely to recognise so many familiar places (including the entrance and escalators of a Shanghai skyscraper which were in fact a building in the City we visited last year!)
The film baddie reminded me so much of David Walliams in "Little Britain"; there were some great one-liners including one in the much-hyped homo-erotic moment!
