Wedding (part 2)

Apr 29, 2007 14:13

After the ceremony at the registry office, we all got on the hired coach and we headed for Brighton.
On the coach Adrian handed out stick of Brighton rocks and the menu cards:

We were running late (almost an hour) and the traffic wasn't helping: thank goodness for the bus lanes in Brighton!
We got at the The Gourmet Fish & Chip Company at about 2 pm and had our lunch as planned (accompanied by a few glasses of rosé  Cava).
It's a small-ish restaurant (it sits about 50 people) and they closed it for us for a couple of hours. Manon and her staff were really nice and we started eating almost immediately (we had called her with the orders from the coach). Luckily they were not too concerned about us being late (Adrian and I took turns to worry about our lateness whilst still on the coach!).
The food was great and I think all our friends enjoyed it.

Unfortunately after lunch we had to cut short the "free" time on the Pier: we only had half an hour. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time. The sun was shining and it was really warm, and - unusually for Brighton - there was no wind.

Next stop the Grand for afternoon tea!! (finger sandwiches and Champagne, scones with jam and clotted cream, French pastries: simply divine!)

Then back on the coach, heading home. We got here just before 8 pm and many of our guests joined us for more partying (Oscar, Adrian's older nephew took care of the food preparation - this time it was all M&S party food, apart from the cupcakes that Adrian had baked on the Thu evening): the last guests left at 1 am (all the 12 bottles of Prosecco, and many others, were drunk!)

It was truly a wonderful day! We'll never forget it (and many of our friends said the same).
