Buon Natale!

Today I spent the day in Milan with my friend Paola and her husband Francesco.

I travelled from Turin (and back) on the Frecciarossa train

which halves the journey from about 2 hrs to 55 minutes.
The train reaches 300 km/h and takes about 33 minutes to travel from the last station in Turin to the first one in Milan, which is very impressive. The rest of the journey is spent in the two cities travelling slower from station to station.

As the train stopped at Porta Garibaldi (before carrying on to Rome via Bologna and Florence), I decided to visit the nearby Cimitero Monumentale before meeting my friends.
A very quiet (it was sunny but cold) and impressive place with great photo opportunities.

We walked quite a lot today through Parco Sempione, the Castle, Piazza del Duomo, la Galleria, San Babila, Via Monte Napoleone.

Back in Turin, I had planned to take some pictures of the Christmas lights designed by a number of artists, but I was just too tired and decided to give it a miss.
There's always another year - after all the "Luci d'artista" in Turin have only been a feature for the last 13 years! lol

So no lights;  the pictures from the cemetery are not quite suited to wish you all a very happy Christmas!

The large tree in the front of the Duomo will just have to do!

Buon Natale a tutti voi!

christmas, friends, milan
