"Naked priest suspended"

Jan 14, 2011 13:16

With this juicy title. the West End Extra breaks the news that "A PRIEST was suspended after an ecclesiastical tribunal upheld a complaint that he walked in naked on two guests having sex in the rectory at his Soho church."

You can read the article here.

I feel strangely troubled by this and, somewhat surprisingly, I feel sorry for the priest (I do not know him).
I realise that I should probably be shocked by his behaviour and this slightly sordid tale, but frankly I am more disturbed by the soldier and the sailor's reporting him to the ecclesiastical authorities.

I do understand that the couple were annoyed by his behaviour and unwelcome attention, but surely somebody who's in the army/navy must be used to all sorts.

Come on, you're staying in a rectory (guests of an openly gay priest) and you are having sex in the next room, you are hardly bloody Snow White!

Obviously I do not know what happened that night/morning, but personally, I feel that the actions of this couple were unnecessarily vindictive.

[P.S: And just in case you wondered, when we have guests staying, I do not walk into the their room naked! LOL!]

soho, news
