Violence

I was saddened by the news of the bombing of the German Bakery in Pune.
I didn't patronise the place when I was in India but I know it as it was in the same neighbourhood as the company apartment.
( http://london1967.livejournal.com/tag/india if you fancy a trip down memory lane with me).

I was also shocked but not suprised at the race riots in Milan. The "melting pot" is still young in Italy and I'm sure we'll see many more riots.

This morning I also had a reminder that violence is never too far.
3 teenagers boarded the bendy bus in Trafalgar Square and were violently arguing, pushing and shoving each other.
One of them was carrying an open bottle of wine (Portuguese I think - it's funny how sometimes you notice small details) and his eyes were wild.
Everybody else on the bus was just pretending to be reading the paper or looking out of the window: nobody wanted to get involved and we were all silently hoping for a quick delivery to our stops, without a trip to A&E.

At one point a mobile phone flew in front of my eyes and smashed into pieces on the glass door.
I took it as cue and I calmly got off the bus at the following stop.

violence, italy, india, london
