Gloom and doom!

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate going to the dentist’s, even if just for a check-up?

This time I tried self-hypnosis and managed to soothe my heart palpitations and the feeling sick.

Sadly, it wasn’t all good because there is work to be done and lots of money to be spent. So next time it’s going to be a 2 hour appointment - a few days after coming back from our holiday.
The dentist is apparently so concerned about this tooth with its below-the-gum problem that he’ll try to fit me in before the holiday if he has a cancellation.

In other news, Adrian has received yesterday a letter to inform him that his job is at risk of redundancy. They already had a meeting on Monday so it wasn’t a surprise. The company have decided to close their retail units in the UK and almost certainly Adrian will be without a job from November.
Despite the law, it’s not easy to find a job when you are 55 and it’s such a shame not just because of the money but also because Adrian is really good at interior designing, etc.
All that talent wasted because he’s not a young thing any longer.

In the run up to our trip across the pond, the pound keeps falling further and further against the US$ and it is at an all time low against the Euro. A recession in the UK seems now inevitable.

Perhaps I could always try panhandling in Toronto and in Boston!
