Persecuted by Bush
George W. seems to follow me, first to Italy and now back in London.
The Italian media dedicated lots of pages and airtime to his visit. Facts and gossip. And speculations on whether he may "do a Blair" and convert to Catholicism.
It was embarrassing watching him and Berlusconi on the news: I couldn't decide who was the most cringe-worthy.
This morning I walked through St. James's park and there was police everywhere on the Horseguards parade side; they were inspecting lawns and shrubs for anything suspicious and they even locked the public toilets. I guess it would be hugely embarrassing if the toilets were blown up! But I felt sorry for all those poor members of the public with weak bladders (I'm getting old myself).
My trip to Italy to visit my parents was uneventful.
My mother invited my oldest friend and his parents yesterday for lunch: 11 courses! I politely declined the BA sandwich on the flight back to London.
Both flights were delayed and yesterday I even got stuck on the transit between terminals at Gatwick. Welcome back!
