Tragicomedy

Thank goodness it’s Friday! It hasn’t been a particularly arduous week but it’s always wonderful to have two days to do things you enjoy or just being idle.

This week-end I’d really like to plan the New England holiday (the flights are already booked and so is the B&B in Boston).
We’ll be in Toronto for 4 nights, then 1 night at Niagara Falls and then probably a week of touring Vermont with some digressions in neighbouring states following by 4 nights in Boston. What I need to think out, is where to go (and stay) in that week we’ll have the car.  According to the guidebook, the main roads in Vermont will be chock-a-block with leaf peepers!

Tomorrow we are looking forward to the second episode of the new Dr. Who series. Last week it was very entertaining; Catherine Tate made a great “companion” (she certainly “toned it down” compared to the Christmas special 2 years ago, but you can still see traces of some of her comedy characters). I wonder if last week’s episode was inspired by the Sony Bravia’s advert (I won’t say more in case you haven’t seen it yet).

Talking about TV, last night BBC News showed one of the “martyrdom” videos recorded by one of the men accused of plotting to blow up planes with liquid explosives 2 years ago (they are now standing trial).
This young British guy really struggled with his speech and had to stop all the time to read the “script” and with lot of difficulty (and no, it wasn’t because he was overcome with emotion).

“This is revenge for the actions of the USA in the Muslim lands and their accomplices such as the British and the Jews.
This is a warning to the non-believers that if they do not leave our lands there are many more like us and many more like me ready to strike until the law of Allah is established on this earth. “

Adrian (

adrian, laughter, new england
