My scheduled weekend in Leeds with my mother didn't go quite according to plan, as she was unwell on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday we did managed to go for our usual "pensioner's special" fish & chip treat and do a number of chores using the car...... she also chose two orchids for her Mother's Day gift... we were going to get a couple of patio rose bushes but she thought she'd like something indoor so she could see it from her easy-chair..... We had booked for dinner out on Sunday evening and she insisted that I still went with my sister and two nephews as she was feeling a bit better (and it was Mother's Day for my sister after all).... I think secretly she wasn't too upset staying home, as it was bitterly cold and snowing, and the last episodes of the current series of both "Call the Midwife" and "Mr Selfridge" were on, so she didn't miss them ! LOL Monday she was almost back to "normal" so I was able to return home in time for the lovely
london1967's return from Italy.
Yesterday the garden just looked so sad, as the wind and freezing conditions had flattened all the early daffodils and crocuses.... thankfully most of them seem in a slightly better state today as it's a degree or two milder. I'd also like to stay "tucked up" inside today but I have an ultra-sound examination on my shoulder later this afternoon...hopefully we'll find out about the pain in my arm......
A couple of weeks ago I came across this old image of a building that stands at the side of the railway station we use to travel into central London on the outward journey.... we live equidistant between two stations and get off at the other on the way home.
I hadn't realised an IRA bomb exploded on a train at the station in February 1993, luckily a warning had been given so the area had been evacuated so only the carriage was badly damaged.
We've not seen the much-lauded film "Life of Pi" but this really did amuse me.......
I must admit to spending more time than I should on FaceBook.......... I must concentrate a bit more on LJ !
