The All-Seeing Eye !! LOL

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who sent me good wishes for my recent eye-op, on both my journal and london1967's - they were very much appreciated.

Well, I'm very pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been so far, though I have to say that getting the eye-drops in is quite torturous, today (I think!) I managed to put in two of the four daily drops needed for the first two weeks, twice a day for the following two weeks and I should be an expert !! LOL  I've always been hopeless with anything to do with eyes, so have never even tried bathing them or putting anything in for "tired eyes", so it's all new to me.  And, I can still quite clearly remember having to dissect (sheep I think) eyes at school in biology class....my legs still get a wobble at the thought !

It's quite weird, as I always thought I had quite good eye-sight (for my age) and I'd not had new glasses for some time....so the "discovery"  that my left eye was very blurred was a surprise, and it was only that I had a doctor's appointment booked for blood pressure issues that I even mentioned it, and was told I had a cataract.

For me, having a general anaesthetic was the only way I could face having the surgery, and apart from the anaethetist on the day nobody had a problem with me requesting it......... he was a bit put-out as apparently he's marvellous at doing the local type !!  If he'd seen the nurse trying to get the three lots of pre-op drops into my eye I'm sure even he would have said "knock him out for goodness sake!!" LOL  .....I sure napped and slept quite a lot for a couple of days, but then I believe that helps the body heal...... or that's my excuse.

Prickly eye on-and-off, and I can't look too long at anything, but the difference is amazing.....and it's only day four.

Of course, I've had a wonderful nurse, london1967 has been doing everything, eye-bathing, eye-drops, making dinner and waiting on me hand-and-foot !  Now it's time to ease myself "back to normal", though with the gloomy and very wet weather we've been having lately it's very tempting to do nothing but mooch.

It will be interesting to find out how my sight is when I go to the opticians in another few weeks.  I did wonder if I might have already had the cataract forming last time I got new glasses, and if they preferred to say nothing in order to get the sale...... or am I being cynical ?? moi, cynical ??? LOL

Maybe I'll get "pince-nez" !!

(like these on a poster in Venice recently)
