Moving right along... :-)
Mara: I finished riveting the belt and sholder straps. The only thing left to do with those parts is to find 2 boy-scout style belt buckles and put them on the sholders in the front. Shouldn't be too hard, just need to find the time to go get them. I got the fabric for her cape and a pattern for it as well. I'm going with a cream colored linen. I'm going to make a clasp for it since I can't find one that I like. I also need to finish cutting out the body suit and sew it. But, I did get the knee pads from Play it Again sports and colored the rivets black as well as the logo. I'm going to use my Anakin lightsaber, as Luke does eventually give it to her.
Padme Black Corset Gown: This one is the most exciting. I finally found a good pattern to use for the top... Simplicity 4145. Thank god the fabric store near here is going out of business and everything is 60% off. I can't tell you how much that has helped. Anyways, I just finished the outer corset! I'm pleased with it. I didn't bone this one, since the undercorset is fully boned and should give me the shape I need - this one is more for show. I also got a pattern for the gloves which shouldn't be too difficult to alter. After that, all that needs to be done is the rest of the beading on the neckpiece. Such a pain in the ass I can't get motivated for it.
Padme Lake Gown: I have everything but the silk. I can't bring myself to spend the $100 it's going to take just yet. If anyone knows of a good place to get real silk, please let me know.
Cara-Mord Sith: I don't know if I'm going to have this one done this year, but I'm buying the things I need as I see them on sale. I found the perfect shade of red vinyl, so I got that, and some yellow fabric paint to do the design on her stomach. I'm totally stoked about making her Agiel, but I want to hold off until I cut the pattern out of the vinyl before I make it, since it can be made from scraps. My friend Lucy's mom is a clothing designer, so I told her what I was looking for and she's going to make me a custom pattern based on my designs and ideas. I'm totally thrilled that she's doing it for me - it should be awesome. Now to con someone into being my Lord Rahl... :-)
