Still alive..

Things are going really well here in Arizona. I'm gradated with an M.S. in Geology. With a full-time "job" -in quotes because it's just too awesome to be thought of as work. I work at the LROC SOC stationed here at ASU (that's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera Science Operations Center).

STS-119 just launched, now we're just waiting for WGS to launch this week! (cross your fingers, that's the only thing between us and the moon!)

Hahaha.. chatting with a friend on gmail, he suggests that me watching NASA TV should be a work-related tax write-off.

In other very random news:
-my alarm-clock radio is possessed. Every now and then it'll make a random hissing noise like it's between radio stations.. I sure hope no one is trying to contact me from the Beyond because I'm throwing this thing out!.. if I don't decide to take it apart first.

-Wasps apparently succumb to hairspray and their nests don't burn very well.. even when dowsed in hair spray. But the eggs to pop.. kinda weird.

-A LOT has gone on as far as activities and what-not go since the last update, Facebook has lots of photos.
The most recent activity I feel the need to share happened last night. ladiebug found this (what sounded like) awesome event going on at one of the bookstores, a nerdy singles mingle type thing. It looked great on paper, so we invited some friends to go...
Holy crap it was awkward as hell. The best way to describe it is a forced-interaction of the kids that were uncomfortable at the high school dances. We made the best of it, and when it was all said and done, a few of us hung around and played hacky-sack with one of the balloons and talked geek. That was by far a much better way of getting nerds to interact than forced trivia and people auctions. So the 8-10 of us or so went out to get beer next door and that was cool, a bright side of an awkward night.

-Frank is getting me into couchsurfing, the people seem kind of 'meh' for the most part, but that's probably just the awkwardness of being thrown into a group of unknowns for one of the CouchSurfers' gatherings. We did meet this really cool girl from Taiwan(?) who works on campus, so we're gonna try and meet up with her for lunch. It's a start to meeting new people, so we'll see how this goes!
