HOTEL ROBBERY

__11__) For Shaylynn's entry about the same incident...

Worked Megacon this weekend.

The hotel we stayed at was humid, uncomfortable, roomed cockroaches, had low water pressure, clogged showers, and the light fixture fell from the fucking cealing.

Our lovely supprise at the end of the convention was being robbed of thousands of dollars worth of personal items.

We (Noreene, Shaylynn, Ashley, and myself) had all left our hotel room by 9:30am to work our booth at the Megacon Convention, Ashley and Noreene holding the other two keys to the room. When we returned that evening at around 7:30pm, we found that my entire backpack was gone. It contained my gateway laptop, my two southeast asian history text books, pills, and two necklaces my mom had given to my for my birthday.
When I saw the backpack gone from the chair I had left it in, I panicked because I knew it had been stolen. Ashley and Shay were slower to react, but then Shaylynn noticed that her Dell laptop had been taken from her bag.
We called the front desk right away who sent security, who called police, who directed us to a website and told us to fill out claims there, but advised us that if we didn't have insurance, we were basically screwed. I dont have insurance.
Noreene rushed back to the hotel (She had taken someone to the airport) and found that her camera and phone charger had been stolen from her shoe bag, including her flight information for the next day. The larger problem being that we had no way to charge our phones and hers died before she even got to the airport...
We went to the front desk to complain, and got nothing. The Manager wouldnt come in to see us, and they didnt offer to change our rooms. We had to stay for another night to speak with the Manager on Monday morning (This morning) because Noreene had to leave for her flight. Shay had to miss school, and Ashley work, (Im on break fortunately). The Manager appoligized to us and told us that if no way was found that it was not their fault, then they would compensate us for our losses. He also mentioned that it seemed the was little doubt that the fault did not lay with the hotel. However, I just want my things back. Thats all. I want my things that were stolen returned to me, the way the were before they were stolen.
There was no forced entery, so the thief had a key card.
Its really all so unbeliable, and i'm so angry/tired/sad/depressed. I couldnt sleep last night, and Im exhausted now.

To top off the 24 hours, when I returned home, my cat Vash was missing. So we searched everywhere for him for about 4 hours, and even put out signs. It was aweful because the night before I had mentioned the only thing worse than losing my computer would be losing my cat, and there we was, not there...
Fortunately I met alot of friendly and helpful people. And hours later...HOURS...my damn cat showed up casually in my house. I don't know HOW. I just got the phone call from my dad. It's really all too much for one person.

So I've still got to fill out online police reports, and hope hope hope my things can be returned. I don't understand how people can be so selfish.  And also, this has screwed Shay and I over in our school work. They even stole MY BOOKS. My theory is that they used my backpack to carry out all of the stolen items without looking suspecious. I hope they get caught and charged for the fellony they commited.

**EDIT** We did not leave any of our belongings out in the open where they could have been seen, all were in closed bags.
