And yeah. I'm writing the last chapter right now, and I don't really want it to end, but it has to. (If nothing else, I'd get bored of it if just dragged on forever).
Another beautiful chapter. I love reading Harry falling in love with Draco...so sweet and happy. The gifts, and the joy and happiness they obviously brought to the boys...so lovely to read. I got a kick out of these lines: "He trusted Draco Malfoy. Sometimes, when he thought about it, the oddness of his life truly galled him." Hee hee! Poor Harry...so much has happened in eleven months!
Only one more chapter...I'll be sad to see it finished, but thrilled to read the end!
Thanks. This part of the story has been kind of a relief to write, after all the tension earlier, but also harder than I expected, because there aren't as many happenings to provide plot momentum.
Harry's life has completely changed. So has Draco's, to be fair, but I think the changes went deeper for Harry, if only because he had to change many different assumptions about himself. Draco is still living with a slightly modified version of the life philosophy he started out the year with.
I just found this story today, and read the whole thing. I just have to say that I've really enjoyed this story. I love the complicated characters, the way they were all so real, that Draco was still very Slytherin, that Harry was the martyr, that it was a real, difficult progression of their relationships. I like that it was about dealing with what life brings, that changes happen and you have to deal with it and continue. I love how Draco was in it for himself at first, but came to love Harry as a person. And I love that Harry now has someone to take care of him, for a change. I am very much looking forward to the final chapter, and I hope you'll post it soon. This really was a wonderful Veela!Draco story, one that avoided all the cliches. Well done.
Wow, thanks! I'm happy that such a long story held your interest.
I love imagining canon characters years on, and trying to make both where they wound up and how they fell in love realistic. That's not to say I can't enjoy Hogwarts stories and fluff pieces without backstory; I just like this kind of writing better.

Very succinct statement of the story's main theme. I'm pleased you're pleased with it. :)
The final chapter will be up tomorrow; I finished writing it today.
And thank you again. I know a lot of people are wary of Veela stories (and with very good reason), so thanks for giving this one a try.
You're welcome. I definitely prefer longer stories to short ones. One-shots can be great, but I love to cut my teeth on some good plot. So no worries about holding my interest. Unfortunately, I'm not quite as good at writing long fics as I am at reading them, heh.
Oh, me too. I love taking the characters at some point post-hogwarts and working the story such that the backstory is worked in a little here, a little there, and making the leap from canon to the story and what happens in the story realistic.
Good, I look forward to it! Will definitely be checking for it tomorrow.
Actually, I like veela stories. Some have been poorly written or are overly cliched, but for the most part, I've liked the veela stories I've read. Probably I've missed out on the awful stuff because I try to avoid fanfiction.net, heh.
